Xenoblade hits the US

Nintendo of America has started posting several pictures of the Xenoblade characters on its Facebook page today. Gamestop has also been reported to have updated its inventory list showing a release of April 3rd in the US. The Wiki page was also updated with several other sources reporting on the matter. Xenoblade is an action JRPG that was a huge success in Japan and later in Europe. There was some concern over the release of Xenoblade in the US, when Nintendo of America had its doubts of releasing it stateside. The game received fantastic scores from IGN, Cubed, Eurogamer.

This post has nothing to do with video games. It instead has to do with my amazing wife who is in a contest to play a show at the 9.30 club here in Washington DC. I've never heard of it either but apparently it's a pretty premier place to play. By the way for those of you who don't know (all but 2 of you) my wife is a musician. All you have to do is go to this website and click on vote then type in your email and a username and then click on the 3 votes button for 3 votes, that simple and it only takes about 10 seconds. She is currently in 6th place and we aren't sure how many bands get to play so we want to get as high as we can to give us the best chance. Thank you so much and oh by the way she has promised to write ya'll a song if you do this for her. Thanks again. cheese (the dude that never comes here) #9

Netflix stops DVD Rentals introduces Qwikster and Games

Today, Reed Hastings, Co Founder and CEO, of Netflix made an official statement declaring that Netflix will no longer deal with physical DVD rentals and will focus solely on their streaming service. Don't panic yet though as they WILL still be sending out DVD discs but under a different name, Qwikster. Their new service will be available in a few months and will also sport Game Rentals as an additional monthly charge. So what we'll see is two separate services providing two separate functions. Reed Hastings promised no more price hikes so, while there is no official Qwikster pricing information, it will be estimated to follow the current Netflix price structure of around $10 a month for 1 disc at a time.

Nintendo announced dates of 2 new Mario games for their Nintendo 3DS portable gaming unit today via press release. Super Mario Land 3D and Mario Kart 7 are expected this holiday season before years end. Super Mario Land 3D has a date of November 13th in North America while Mario Kart 7 shooting for December 4th. Both Mario games should really push sales this holiday season for Nintendo's portable unit which recently underwent a massive price slash to boost (what they think) lacking sales of the new device.

3DS Expansion Slide pad?

It has been revealed that Nintendo has plans to release this!?... thing: This is called the 3DS Expansion Slide pad. The first game to utilize this fugly peripheral will be Monster Hunter(tri) 3G. This is a ground up remake of Monster Hunter Tri released on Wii featuring new monsters, levels, and weapons. Go to Kotaku for more info This cradle like add on will add not only a right analog stick, slide pad , but also an R1, R2, and L2 buttons. The 3DS' original L1 button will still be reachable with the cradle attached. Since it is a cradle, it does surround certain parts of the 3DS. It appears that the game cartridge slot is blocked by the 3DS Expansion Slide Pad, meaning that you must take the 3DS out of the Expansion Slide Pad to change games. Apparently, the wireless switch is also blocked. Nintendo is expected to officially announce this at next week's Tokyo Game Show on Tuesday the 13th where Nintendo is holding a pre show press conference. This show will be streamed on Nintendo.com and will probably be shown on the Wii's Nintendo Channel.

In the news today I'm reading about rumors of a new redesigned 3DS that will take the core focus off of the 3D implementation and shift it to the core power of the handheld. But is this the right path? Is the 3D dead? Or are people just hesitant to jump into it with their hard earned cash in a sour economy? Would games benefit from a more 2D approach with 3D features? Perhaps the older DS still has isn't dead yet. Maybe the game library isn't full enough to transfer over. What are your opinions and why?

Nintendo announced a price cut of the 3DS from $249.99 to $169.99 in the U.S. effective August 12, 2011. For anyone who was on the fence about buying a Nintendo 3DS, this is a huge motivation to buy now, said Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils Aime. We are giving shoppers every incentive to pick up a Nintendo 3DS, from an amazing new price to a rapid fire succession of great games. Users must connect to the Nintendo eShop at least once before the price cut date. They will then be automatically registered in the Nintendo 3DS Ambassador program.
DahweirdaKart Tournament 5 has been confirmed to be a 5 Round Tournament. Making this the biggest DahweirdaKart Tournament ever. Rounds 2 4 will work exactly how Rounds 1 3 have been working where I won't count and will make myself lose on purpose to get 0 points. Here is what has been confirmed so far: It will start an hour earlier then normal. Round 1 for the first time ever will be a Balloon Battle featuring either 3 VS 3 or 4 VS 4 featuring Me as a Team Leader, teaming with 2 or 3 others (depending how many shows) VS Team Leader and DahweirdaKart Hall Of Famer, DPMO who will also team with either 2 or 3 others (depending how many shows) Round 2 will feature the winning 2 or 3 of Round 1 joining with evolution, Koopa, Yungface011, Yoshizilla and Catwoman. The 4th DahweirdaKart Hall of Famer, mushroomkingdom1 will be playing the role as a Bully trying to claim the points from coming in 1st place as his own but won't count. Round 3 will be the treditional Team VS. Race as Round 2 has been where the 6 winners of Round 2 will be split into 2 teams of 3 VS 3 as I'll be losing on purpose as always to be the one to get 0 points Round 4 will be the Special Cup VS. Race that has been Round 3 in the past where the winning team from Round 3 will meet to become a DahweirdaKart Hall Of Famer and win the treditional prize 1 choice of the 4 as normal. The challenger that comes in 2nd in this round will get a game of their choice worth 500 Wii Points that I will send as a gift on their wii. First ever DahweirdaKart Hall of Famer, LilahBugAcs will be playing the role as a Bully trying to claim the points from coming in 1st place as her own but won't count. Round 5 will feature all 5 DahweirdaKart Hall of Famers in a Showdown to determine who will be the DahweirdaKart Champion of Champions. Winner will get the treditional prize 1 choice of the 4 as normal. The DahweirdaKart Hall of Famer that comes in 2nd will get a game of their choice worth 1000 Wii Points that I will send as a gift on their wii. While the DahweirdaKart Hall of Famer that comes in 3rd will get a game of their choice worth 500 Wii Points that I will send as a gift on their wii. Full details and Date of Tournament is TBA. (To Be Announced) Take care, have fun and enjoy. Update: DahweirdaKart Hall of Famer Windrunner's wii won't read disks but I told him about the club nintendo thing so that maybe he can get his wii repaired before hand. So time will tell rather or not he will be able to take part.
